  • Why is the word "wealth" so confusing?

Like many words, wealth is confusing because when we use it, we may be referring to either the subjective or objective aspects of reality.

In the common sense, being wealthy is understood as having lot's of money and material means. The opposite, being poor means having no money and no material means. Both words refer to the external reality, not the internal subjective reality.

But experientially it may truly be the case that I may not have material possessions, but still might be the richest man on Earth, because of the people I love, because I am surrounded by natural beauty, because of my health, because of my inner capacity for happiness. Likewise I could be a multibillionaire and yet be the most miserable human being inside, surrounded by corruption, greed, cheating, superficiality... Isn't it interesting we don't have ontological distinctions in our language to clearly discriminate these states of being?

Poverty and wealth are one of the most destructive ontological confusion I know.
